We’re Cultivating Entrepreneurial Mindsets…

Collaboration is the key to success and GGRF recently partnered with  The ShowingHearts Foundation and several Queens-based organizations and community leaders to co-sponsor the first annual YouthPreneur Financial Literacy Summit for teens and young adults.

Councilman I. Daneek Miller and 3rd Place Winner, Madison Edwards

The event aimed to ignite the entrepreneurship potential of youth by exposing them to an impressive panel of industry professionals, who shared their knowledge of business strategies and ownership, as well as answer questions from the eager and entrepreneurial-minded participants.

The most anticipated part of the day was a pitch contest that awarded a total of $2000 in cash prizes to 4 winners.  Three students from our Young Women’s Leadership Academy students (Arissa Edwards, Ruquayyah Masood, and Madison Edwards) all pitched business ideas to the panel of judges and in the end, Madison walked away with one of the two third place prizes of $250.

New York City Councilman I. Daneek Miller, who was one of the sponsors of the event, offered words of encouragement to all of the participants and presented the winners with their prizes. Participants were treated to breakfast and lunch and entertained by talented female saxophonist/pianist Ashley Keiko and a local DJ.
