A Day At ABC Studios! YWLA Students Visit EyeWitness News Set and More…

Last week YWLA students enjoyed a very special behind the scenes visit to ABC Studios. The day started with a close-up view of the live morning broadcast of EyeWitness News with co-anchors Shirleen Allicot and Ken Rosato, our very kind & gracious hosts. We were also treated to a very detailed and extensive tour by Mr. Rosato, which included a bit ABC history, learning about the different sets, meeting many of ABC’s very friendly and professional staff in their various roles in the control rooms and studio settings. 

Our students have various career aspirations including journalism.  During the visit, our future journalist, Madi, was delighted to be given the opportunity to operate one of the cameras in the Live with Kelly and Ryan Studio.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Allicot, who is also Guyanese, for her invitation and very warm welcome, and for taking the time away from her busy schedule to chat with our young women. We also thank Mr. Rosato for making our day fun and exciting; an experience that our young women will cherish, and to traffic reporter Heather O’Rourke for her kindness in answering all of our questions. Finally, thank you to Sharon Devonish Leid of NETSTRUC PR for facilitating and making this all possible. It was a day well spent.
