It’s Orientation Day!
The frigid temperatures and impending snow couldn’t put a stop to Orientation Day at the Young Women’s Leadership Academy!
We are excited to announce we welcomed back thirteen 2019 students, with the addition of five new students, into the 2020 class.
Also joining the YWLA2020 team are Nalini Dyal and Arlene Kendall, who both have extensive backgrounds in education from collegiate and high school levels, respectively. We are extremely delighted with the addition of two great new resources for the girls as many prepare to embark on their college application journeys!
During orientation, after first learning all of the class rules (of course!) the girls reunited and got to know their new classmates with the popular icebreaker game, two truths, and an untruth. We were all surprised at how many of the girls have visited our beautiful motherland, Guyana!
The activity of the day was creating “Get Well” cards to our beloved Program Director. Dr. Gregory who was injured on Christmas Eve and the girls wanted to wish her a speedy recovery! What better way than to send her handmade cards made with love?!
We are proud to see our class size growing and look forward to a successful 2020 Young Women’s Leadership Academy!
