President’s Message: GGRF Inaugural Honors & Awards Luncheon
Dear Supporters and Friends,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Inaugural Guyanese Girls Rock Foundation, Honors & Awards Luncheon.
Our mission at GGRF is to empower young women to create their own paths to success. We believe that this can be achieved by cultivating an environment where girls feel encouraged and supported to make positive contributions in the world through leadership. As a result, we are proud to have established the Young Women Leadership Academy, a 6-month Saturday program that supports the development of young women and girls by supporting their growth as leaders.
I strongly believe that girls need a great role model from whom they can draw inspiration, and want to thank our honorees for exemplifying qualities of leadership, courage, passion, strength, and dedication to service.
“People seldom improve when they have no other role model but themselves to copy.”
~ Oliver Goldsmith ~
The Guyanese Girls Rock “Women of Influence” Award recognizes phenomenal women for their outstanding achievements and for making an impact both professionally and in their communities. It is important to celebrate and shine the spotlight on phenomenal female figures, especially since women still have to work twice as hard to be recognized for their efforts or rewarded with the highest levels of compensation, or positions of leadership.
Today we are celebrating several firsts. Our first honorees, our first leadership class, and our first graduates. I am truly honored to have so many of you join us and would like to thank you all for your support of the Guyanese Girls Rock Foundation and the Guyanese Girls Rock Movement. I also thank our Board of Directors, teacher, volunteers and mentors for your tireless work and dedication to GGRF. Finally, special thanks to the many elected officials, civic, community leader and members of the clergy.
We have a lot more work to do and I hope that you will join us on this journey to empower & inspire the next of female leaders!
