She Rocks! Vannetta Seecharran – Contemporary Jewellery Artist and Educator

vannettaVannetta Seecharran has been influencing art and design in the jewellery field for nearly 20 years. Born in Guyana in 1969, the London-based jewellery teacher migrated at the age of 11 with her parents to New York City. She graduated in 1991 from the prestigious Parsons School of Art with a BA in Product Design, and in 1996 earned an MFA in Jewellery from State University of New York at New Paltz.   She later moved to London in 1998, where she set up her workshop and began to build her reputation as a contemporary jeweller.

Over the years Vannetta’s work has made it into the permanent art collections of The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, The Royal Pumproom Leamington Spa, Harris Museum & Art Gallery and Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, the V & A Museum, London and many galleries around the world.Contemporary Jewelry Making

Vannetta is a also an author and a lecturer at the University of the Arts in London.  In 2007 she founded  the Vannetta Seecharran School of Jewellry located in Islington, London.  The school focuses on teaching professional jewellery making techniques in a way that is fun and accessible to beginners and those who want to pursue jewellery as a hobby or as a profession.

As a leading Jeweller and educator,Vannetta is passionate about teaching and encourages her students to achieve their potential as designer/makers. In addition to teaching professional jewellery making techniques there is an emphasis on developing individual design ideas. In just a few weeks students develop a keen eye for jewellery design and begin to formulate their own ideas for jewellery making. Students can take courses in Silver Jewellery, Silver Casting, Metal forming, Wax Carving and Beaded Jewellery.
