Guyanese, Poonam Singh, is basking in winning glory after she finished First Runner-Up at the Miss Global International Pageant held last night in the Dominican Republic. The reigning Miss Global International Guyana also won Miss Maja of the World 2016, Best Personality, Best National Costume, Best Talent, and the Best Gown categories. Her stunning silver gown was created by House of Pearson, which is owned by local Guyanese designer, Quinton Pearson. The first-time pageant participant shared with her Facebook fans today that she was very proud to be taking home the first runner-up prize and several medals for Guyana.
Poonam is very proud of her country and is often photographed proudly showcasing the Guyana flag. A talented singer/songwriter, she recorded a tribute song titled “G.U.Y.A.N.A” in celebration of the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary. Her Miss Global International Platform focuses on Suicide Awareness and Prevention and Poonam targets those who suffers from depression and encourages them to choose life through another of her original song “Life is a Gift.”
The 21-year old beauty was born in Georgetown, Guyana and raised in Canal Number One, West Bank Demerara. She is currently a law student at the University of London (Nations School of Law). To learn more about Poonam, click here for her GGR Feature Story.
