Dr. Shaneer Reed received a scholarship to study medicine in Cuba and in 2012, at age 25, she returned to Guyana and began practicing family medicine at Charity Public Hospital on the Essequibo Coast. he however, aspires to become a pediatrician and shared the following with the the Guyana Chronicle.
“I have a passion for children; and generally, in Guyana, there are not many pediatricians, and certainly on the Essequibo Coast there is a need for these doctors. I am more than happy to help fill this gap.”
DR. SHANEER REID of Henrietta, Essequibo Coast, is a young woman of excellence. A former student of the Anna Regina Multilateral, this 27-year-old excelled at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations, gaining eight grade one and two grade two passes.She thereafter decided to pursue a career in medicine, and, in 2005, she applied and won a Government of Guyana-Government of Cuba scholarship to study medicine in Cuba.
